Bijli Mahadev Temple is located at Kulu District of Himachal Pradesh. Settled at an altitude of about 2,460m. This beautiful hilltop is around 14 km from Kullu and 60kms from Manali across the Beas river. It can be approached by a rewarding trek of 3 km. The main attraction of the temple is the Shiva lingam. The same Lingam is habitually struck by thunder ball and broken into pieces and it happens once in 3 years. The priest of the temple then uses butter as aggressive to put the pieces back together. That’s why the temple is so named Bijli, which translates to thunder ball while Mahadev is another name for Lord Shiva.

Festivals:

There are lots of Festivals happened in Kullu & Manali. But here Maha Shivratri is one of the important festival. Temple decorates beautifully at night and it feels very soothing to see as travelers and local people have told. The 60 feet high staff of the Bijli Mahadev temple shine like a silver indicator in the sun. It is famous for Lord Shiva and it is one of the most sacred temple sites of Himachal Pradesh, India. .

How To Reach:

At First reach at Kulu bus stand. Then by bus or self-car and the bus would drop visitors at Chansari village from that they can move by climbing stairs up to 3 km to reach Bijli Mahadev Temple. The trek of Bijli Mahadev temple is almost safe and only just data of accidents. The distance from Kullu Bus Stand to Bijli Mahadev Temple is 5.6 km.
